Don't stop scrapping...

Oh yeah it's been a veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery long weekend... Like 2 months! But I've been very busy with... (lemme think for a minute) ... Oh yeah! When you turn a certain age, you tend to forget some things. I turned 40 in April (I know I told you a little white lie last year). And she threw me a great party! With lots of friends, food (Home-made by her!) and music! One of my friends brought his Final-scratch, so we had to dust-off the turntables and all... Thanks dear!

What else been keeping me busy? Peanuts! The new Baseball season started end of March, so the weekends are now filled with Games! Colin wanted to join as well, so he now is a "Little Bandit". And 2 kids in 2 teams means 2 days during the weekend to go to the ballpark! Not all weekends, but some Michael even played in both teams... Last year my dad assisted me with the Peanuts, but this year he has his own team; the second coach of that team can't always make it to the training or games, so I am the substitute coach... And ofcourse I like to just watch the 1st team, who is in 1st position now (even after the bench clearing brawl of 2 weeks ago).

And the most positive side of games during the weekend is that whenever she has a bridal-shower-scrap-thingie, I have an excuse to not stick around! For example next Saturday she has an "Open House" with makes-and-takes, Meet-and-Greet with the Designteam and ofcourse reduced prices; Memorylane Scrapbooking exists 3 years and that calls for a small celibration! Hopefully she sells all that stuff, otherwise she might quit... And what will she be doing next?

If she ever thinks about a different carriere, it best not be singing... I know, it ain't polite to tell, but she better keeps her singing to herself under the shower!

You do not wanna have her recording a clip like this:

YOU DO NOT WANNA HAVE HER SINGING LIKE THIS!!!

BABY PLEASE KEEP TO THE SCRAPPING THING!!!

SWAP-parties

We all know the meaning of SWAP, right?

How often did you hear conversations like below...

"I've bought this gorgeous such and such, you should see it!"
"Me too, if there are some more, we can do a swap!!!"
"I'm in!"
"Me too!"
"Count me in as well"... And so on!

This can be done in several ways: through Snailmail or Party!!!
And ofcourse I wouldn't be me if I did not have pictures to show what a mess SWAP-parties could become...

Here you see them entering (storming in) the house of the organiser (above), anxious from waiting in line (below) to open up...

And this is what happens when you have limited seats... Of course everyone wants a seat at the window, so they even try to get in through them!!!

Now you know what a mess a simple swap-party can become... It probably will not be long before these parties become "Underground"...

SO BE WARNED!!! STAY AWAY!!! KST!!!

Self Help Program (SHeP)

We are getting bigger as a movement all the time... It always starts out with a few that need to push the rest to get their rear in motion! But we are getting THERE!

I recently stumbled upon Facebook... Which is a database for people to meet old friends, schoolmates and "LIKE-MINDED"; go check it out!!!

Go to Facebook.com, register and join the "Husbands with wives who scrapbook support team"... Check the evidence!

Real Men Wanted!

As you know by now, the majority of readers of this blog are women... And every now and then I get rewarded for commenting, critize or ridiculing my wife's hobby...

Here is another example:

Sorry for the altered sign, but hey... I cannot display a sign saying "Girl", now can I?

So now that I actually got a Rockin' Dude Blogger sign, here are the NOMINEES:

Wes Thompson: the only dude that came out of the Brown Paperbag and let the world see he scrapped!
Eric: This dude makes some pretty pictures!
Mr. Grendel: Wise cracks & coffee, read some of his stories (makes me smile)!

And last but not least: Michael: where does the dude get that eye from...

Feel free to use the new sign... altough I doubt anyone will... I am however very curious 'bout who they might nominate... Just wait and see!

Have a great weekend. And for those of you that will be at home while she is scrapping:

simple life...

Have you ever wondered why me and her are that much different? Below is a picture to clarify the list about me... I didn't even start on on the list for her!!!

MAN: Simple creatures - simple rules.

My last name stays.
The garage is all mine. (After she cleaned it)...
Wedding plans take care of themselves.
Chocolate is just another snack.
I can be Prime Minister.
I can never get pregnant.
I can wear a white T-shirt to a water park.
I can wear NO shirt to a water park.
Car mechanics tell me the truth.
I know stuff about cars.
I don't have to stop and think of which way to turn a nut on a bolt.
I never have to drive to another gas station restroom because this one is just "too icky".
Same work, more pay.
Wrinkles add character.
Gray hairs make me look distinguished.
Wedding dress costs €5000; Tuxido rental only €100.
People never stare at my chest when I'm talking to them.
The occasional well-rendered belch is practically expected.
New shoes don't cut, blister, or mangle my feet.
One mood all the time.
Phone conversations are over within 30 seconds.
A five-day vacation requires only one suitcase.
I can open all my own jars.
I get extra credit for the slightest act of thoughtfulness.
If someone forgets to invite me, he or she can still be your friend.
My underwear is €8.95 for a three-pack.
Three pairs of shoes are more than enough.
I almost never have strap problems in public.
I am unable to see wrinkles in your clothes.
Everything on my face stays its original color.
The same hairstyle lasts for years, maybe decades.
I only have to shave my face and nostrils.
I can play with toys all my life.
My belly usually hides my big hips.
One wallet and one pair of shoes: one color for all seasons.
I can wear shorts no matter how my legs look.
I can "do" my nails with a pocket knife.
I have freedom of choice concerning growing a mustache..
I can do Christmas shopping for 25 relatives on December 24 in 25 minutes.

Now you know: No wonder men are happier.

BTW: remember I told you about my holidays starting with nothing but rain... IT STILL DOES!

Symbol of Love?

How come their hobbies always cost so much more that ours? I for one don't spend any money on hobbies... I don't have any hobbies... My wife keeps me so busy with hers, I have little time to do the thing(s) I like... Like this blog for example: she thinks I am hard at work while I am trying to fill this post!!!

Man am I glad she has a business account! (be sure to read the prenuptuals)

Any-versary

Today is our 5th wedding anniversary!

I took the day off to spend together with my "loved one's"... Guess what she agreed to?

To take over the shift of her co-worker... Thanks honey... In responce I volunteered to do the late shift at my work! (just kidding) This is not meant to be the day to celebrate our 1st lustrum, so we both agreed on tomorrow!

First both boys will attend school for the morning. After that we will go off (the four of us) to do something fun. And at night we (she and I) will go for a movie!!!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY BABE!

Hits...

Just a quick note this time...

Did you notice my counter is about to hit 10,000 visitors? I never imagined when I started this to tease my wife with the outragious way of life that comes with Scrapbooking...

Since I already have a "RAK" on my blog, and she has more than enuff stuff, in that way too crowded scraproom, I will also give one away to visitor # 10,000... So keep your eye on the counter!!!

BTW: remember I told you my wife brought 2 women to the airport after the Scrap-a-lotta? And that they came jumping out of the car to get a picture of me... Well... here it is! From left to right: Marilyn, me & Claire... (Thanks Marilyn for the pic!)

Give-A-Way!!!

How was your weekend? Mine was OK...

Saturday had to take one of the kids swimming; afterwards took both kids to watch the Peanuts play, although they were more interested in the Little League game...
And all that just 'cuz she needed to scrap!
In the afternoon all of us went to a park (Plaswijck) to meet up with Liek & her family. The kids had a blast. Later on delivered them at their Grandparents; so we could have dinner with Liek & HB...

As you know she was off to the Scrap-a-lotta so I had the whole Sunday to myself...
I got the chance to rummage through her scrap supplies!
WANT SOME OF IT? IM GIVING IT AWAY!
Leave me a comment and I will have one of you get picked out of the High Hat!
JUST DO NOT LET MY WIFE KNOW!!!

Back on the day off subject, I had to steamclean the bathroom and THEN I had the whole Sunday to myself, which turned out to be a couple of hours well spend at my uncle Richard's birthday party! After that trailed back home 'cuz she needed the car to drop some women off at the airport. I was just on the phone when the car stopped and 2 very exited ladies came jumping out and wanted to take a picture (yeah with me...Ladies please send me a copy!!!).

For the evening I reserved tickets for Spider-man 3, which we both wanted to see (big screen). As I am a HUGH spider-man fan I was kinda disappointed that Spider-man turned out to be such a cry-baby (never saw that in the comics) and Venom already died after a couple of minutes!!!

Another Weekend Another Workshop Event

Yep,

Once again it has come this far... Scrap-a-ganza... The whole weekend...

And guess what? No, I do not have to entertain the whole weekend! No, she arranged for the kids to be deployed to Grandma & Granddad... To relieve me from the pressure of taking care of them both! Well... I guess she did that just to make sure I did not have anything to write about...

Anyway! She already had some odd jobs for me to do, while she is off and I got my hands free as the kids are gone to sleep over!

You see, there is always something to write about

HAVE A NICE WEEKEND!!!

Creative? Who? Me?

Mothersday...

As always on Mothersday the boyz created something at school to give & I bought them a very tacky cuckoo clock (for her scraproom). And eventhough she isn't my mother I still bought her a DVD... We looked like the 3 Wise that came from the East bearing gifts!!!

I found the shirt below too late (this year), but it might be a good suggestion for next year!!!

As for the creative part: I'm able to draw a puppet for the kids, but creative... Creative minded, okay, but for the rest...

You Are 88% Creative

You are an incredibly creative person. For you, there are no bounds or limits to your creativity.
Your next creation could be something very great... Or at least very cool!

Women are from Venus, Men are down to Earth!

How come that men and women have different views on subjects?

When women think of alcohol they immediately link that to all the things they can do to their scrapbook layouts...

And this also explains why women (with their own scraproom) keep the doors closed...

TO KEEP THE FUMES IN!

Men just think of alcohol as a remedy (to all the misery this hobby of their wives has caused)...

What is your blog worth?

The worth of a blog can only be meassured by the amount of visitors or the name of the URL...

Or in her case by the amount of scrapbook issues she posts...

My blog is worth $7,339.02.
How much is your blog worth?

Weird? Me? Top 10

OK, like I told yesterday I got tagged... And since no-one (thanks 4 nothin') cared to explain the importance or value of this "thing", I had to surf for quite some blogs to find out the hard way...

There were things mentioned by people I did not want to know!!!

So I eventually came up with 10 things about me, hardly anyone knows... I do not know if these things make me weird... Without further a due:

01. I like computers! I like them so much... I have 4 desktops and several laptops... I always hide behind the fact that I am working in IT, so I need these machines to keep up with the industry...

02. I love liquorice (drop)... Right now the water is already running in my mouth only thinking about it!!! The saltier the better...

03. I always go outside (at work) "to smoke"... I quit smoking several years ago (COLD-TURKEY), but I join my co-workers for a breath of fresh air (with planes landing & taking off within meters of the front door)

04. I HATE doing chores! I always try to find an excuse not to do chores, 'cause I know that when 1 chore is done the next is already waiting... Or is this a guy's thing???

05. I am very very very lazy! I rather sit on my ... couch than go to the gym!

06. I am cheap! I only buy new cloths or shoes when the ones I own are completly worn...

07.I read books! I do not only read dozens of blogs, I also read genuine books (the ones made of paper)... I need to read before going to sleep just to wind down... And I never throw them away - They're all stuffed in the attic!!!

08. I like music... ALL MUSIC... And I need to have it... ALL... So I got loads of cd's (well over 1,000) & dvd's with mp 3's...

09. I am all talk, what she says goes...

10. Last but not least: My real name ain't Bubbah! (let's just leave it with that!)

And to show you what is really weird, I'm gonna leave you with this funny video!

DT Lunch

First things first: I got Tagged... Can anyone explain me how tag works??? I always thought that tags are those things that coroners hang on your big toe to identify your body... BUT WHO AM I??? I need to tell you 10 weird things about me... I have to elelaborate on my answers...

You want the thruth??? You Can't Handle The Truth!!! (Imaging Jack Nicholson in A Few Good Men)... I will tell you my soul searching findings tomorrow!

Back on the subject: How come that she enjoys those lunches and I have to suffer...

Early in the morning Michael was probably thinking to himself that I was (nearly) finished with Mom's room and had some time to spare, so he pulled the roller-blind all the way up while balancing on the window-sill... And what does happen to kids when they're balancing??? YES THEY FALL, but they also hang on to whatever they're holding... So he pulled down the entire roller-blind...

Second of all we (me and the boys) had to leave the house (really early - like 9 AM) to make room for loads of women and women-talk... But hey! I had a surprise planned for the boys: we went to the Zoo (Blijgaarde Rotterdam). In front of that zoo is a huge pound with lots of fish, so we brought lots of old bread to feed them, even had enough to spread the joy among some other kids (that where there with BOTH parents)... The Zoo was so busy (traffic jam in the shark-tank) that we left after 3 hours! We then went to my parents-in-law to drop off Colin. He spends almost every sunday/monday with them (either here or there). Spend some time sitting in the backyard, have terrible coffee...

We went home, to see how thing were over there... (sounds dramatic?) Still crowded, so Michael wanted to play soccer, along came the neighbour kid and we spend about 2 hours on footy... The neighbour kid can shoot really hard, which I found out the hard way!!! I tried to block one of his shots with my foot... and BRUISED MY TOE!!! It was all swollen and black and blue and hurts like ****...

I have a "sick-leave" day to rest my toe (which is already doing better - thank you) 'cause I couldn't cycle to work! YES CYCLE!!! I am in the fortunate position that I only work a couple of KM away, so I can ride the bike to work, which is generally faster than the car during rush hour!!!

Anywayz! I still have to find a way to way to hang the roller-blind back up as Colin is coming home in the afternoon and is going to sleep in his own bed (Michael slept there last night)...

BUT HOW WAS YOUR WEEKEND!?!

Scrapbook is not for Men!

Is there anybody outthere (besides the INDUSTRY) that REALLY wants men to scrapbook? Sit in on crops, weekends etc. with nothing but women-talk and girlie-stuff? Does any woman want her friend/husband to get in touch with his feminine side and cry over this or that picture with a "story to die for"...
Can you imaging what kind of layouts would be produced???

  • My first Tattoo
  • Happily ever after (about a divorce)
  • Harley Davidson (or dream to own one)
  • Paintballin' with the guys
  • Swapping stories on our scares
  • Pimp my Car-LO...

I SURE DO NOT WANT TO BE THERE DOING THAT!!!

Did you see the article in the Wall Street Journal??? READ IT !!!

I think my wife is quite happy that I do not book-scrap... (isn't that more correct??? As you are supposed to use scrap to create a book...) She sure doesn't (willingly) wanna split "her" stuff...
On the other hand she can leave her stuff (or should I then say: OUR STUFF) laying around without me commenting on it...

I'mma leave you with this here (comedy) report on men and scrapbooking...

Have a nice weekend (without DT-lunch)!

SCRAP

Does any of you ladies know the meaning of the word SCRAP?

Well, according to Wikipedia...

Scrap is a term used to describe waste metal. Old, unwanted metal such as parts of vehicles, building supplies, and surplus materials, are taken to a wrecking yard (known colloquially as scrapyards), where they are processed for later melting into new products.

Which also goes to say for the stuff YOU are supposed to be using... RECYCLE the leftovers and use yesterdays newspaper (not just for Fish'n'Chips or the Kittylitter), in stead of all new! Don't you have enough??? Take an example of Daphne's latest work... she even uses the PHONEBOOK!!!

Now can any of you ladies explain to me why you all have the urge (and act on that urge) to constantly buy NEW scrapbookarticles, while the meaning is to re-use all your old junk! AND YES, OF COURSE MY WIFE DIFFERS FROM MY OPINION!!! SHE SELLS YOU THAT STUFF!!!

IN STEAD OF THROWING AWAY THE LEFTOVERS, RECYCLE THEM ONTO YOUR LO'S!!! USE WHAT YOU ALREADY HAVE!!! SO WE DO NOT HAVE TO REBUILD OUR HOUSES TO CREATE MORE SPACE FOR MORE JUNK!!!

And maybe when you cleared out your boxes, maybe, yes maybe then you can buy some more...

Happy Birthday....

Happy birthday to me
Happy birthday to me
Happy birthday
Happy birthday
Happy birthday to me!!!

How about that? I TURNED 21! (Don't let anybody tell you otherwise!)

Like anywhere else the house gets decorated with balloons and such, and this year the boys get to help!!! We also have a Birthday dinner ritual: the Birthday boy/girl gets to pick the dinner location!

While the boys always pick BurgerKing or MacDonald's, she and I generally pick some bistro in the neighbourhood where the kids can enjoy their fries aswell... BUT...

With all this building and stuff of the scraproom, the money has run out rapidly, so it will probably be just peanutbutter sandwiches at home this year...

She invited some friends and family over for cake and coffee on Sunday... Hope you'll enjoy your weekend!

Belittle

Look at the title of this here book "If my husband can scrapbook... So can you!" As if women are superiour to men... Women still think that they are the only gender on earth that can "Scrap"...

This is a genuine book! CLICK HERE!But where would they be when they organize a workshop where they have to display all articles they have in store??? Who will drag all that stuff over to the community centre??? And back again??? And who would be feeding all those hungry women??? WELL???

Your Space, my space (watch those caps)!!!

So now that I am almost done with her space, I start making plans for MY OWN SPACE...

As already mentioned, I get the use of half the attic (the sunny side... oh no the cool side... or maybe...) as soon as she makes up her mind! The same goes for the doorway (THE ONE I ALREADY CLOSED THIGHT WITH BRICKS!!!) that needed to be closed to create one big attic... That now has to be split in the front- and back room!!!

I am a collector of (vinyl) records, so I cannot reside on the sunny side... OTHERWISE MY RECORDS WILL MELT!!! On the other hand, If I stay on the cool side of the attic, I am straight over the room of one of the kids... So I need to keep the volume down!

Just be glad that I'm not putting a POOL-TABLE upstairs!!!
