Journaling Part 2

Remember my post about journaling last week? I read it back and still wanted to add some thoughts to that!

Whenever I read the journaling on one of their layouts I get the feeling that it is written for someone visual impaired... NOW THAT'S A NEW AUDIENCE!!! The journaling exactly describes the pictures!!! Why not do braille or better AUDIO BOOKS!!! They could sell extra stuff to accomodate the blind: portable cd/dvd-players to listen to the journaling!

Best not tell my wife or she would be running to the wholeseller's to buy it in bulk...

I would be more subtle; when I would do journaling, I would be doing it like...

The Room Of A Scrapbooker's Husband

Like I said on Friday, not much to been done around the scraproom of my wife... And I did nothing about it to change the status!!! With all this talking about a scrapbookroom for my wife I never got around to tell you about "my space"...

With 2 kids and a wife that claim most of the space left, I don't get a lot of space to myself! I do however tend to make piles of everything I own... Books, magazines, harddisks, cd's and so on! Wherever you look (in the livingroom, bedroom, attic) there are (small) piles of my stuff.

So when I stumbled upon a site about photography of products I thought up below solution! It is small, easy to store and mobile! This way I can use it throughout the entire house!!!

Health vs Scrapbooking

Does any of you care to know the difference between a Health freak and a Scrapbooker?

OK, for those that are truly interested:The health freak lays out her fibres for breakfast while the scrapbooker puts fibres on her "breakfast Lay Out".

That leaves me with this question:
How would you call a scrapbooking health freak? I need to ask my wife to elaborate...

On the scrapbookroom... I did some stuff yesterday as I had a day off (or was it an Off-day), so it will probably not take that long anymore!!! No plans for this weekend, So let's just wait and see what will be done...

Anyways, have a nice weekend and enjoy!

When men would scrap...

They would probably be scrapping about their "other" hobbies; like boxing, football, cars, motorbikes and probably even women... (I bet men wouldn't have that much trouble making a layout about their secret love/famous BABE, but to keep the peace they would just make it all about their own wife)

I know my wife has been playing with this idea, so let's see...

Ps. Who knows I might even put my money where my mouth is! (Don't tell my wife)!!!

Watch first, read later!

So... you thought you were the only one... That had a wife that had a desk that was stuffed with you-name-it-thingies...

HAHAHAHA

I was pleased to see that other husbands of scrapping wives all over the world have the same problem! Wheter they scrap in French, Spanish, English or whatever language, it's all the same!!! Maybe we should see if we can get it before the United Nations; make it a global issue!

TIP: When creating a scraproom for your wife, make sure there is a door WHICH YOU CAN LOCK!

The importance of journaling...

I don't understand the importance of journaling: Shouldn't the pictures tell the story? And if they don't, aren't the pictures wrong? If they like journaling so much, shouldn't they just do that in a diary? And add pictures & stuff to that diary if the story needs visualisation?
So when they do need to add text to the pictures, make it short & clear: like below... So everyone can understand!!!

Weekend update!

Oh yeah! the window is in place... I walk into that room on a regular base and still get "Star Trek"-feelings when I see that window... It is like the window on the bridge were you can watch the stars stripe as they go into warp-speed... I guess she'll just have to get used to it!!! We did not get around to isolate the last wall, as the contractor forgot to mention that the (water)tiles below the window need to dry a day or 2... 3... 'cause of the mortar!!! SO NO DRILLING ALLOWED!!!

Instead got some of the hallway done; it was kinda sloping so we had to straighten it, which took most of the Saturday, so I continued Sunday and am very proud of me!!! (you may leave you comments on how proud you are of me!!!)

On the funny note:
As y'all know American have a National thing for anything:

National sport: Baseball or American Football
National food: McDonalds (am I starting to offend anyone already?)
National comedian: George Bush (still not offended?)

Well anyways, now the congress even has the lunatic idea to make Scrapbooking the National pastime... Watch the evidence!!!

Well, the good thing here is that this lady is self-appointed...

Freak of nature or...

Y'all probably seen or heard about Wes Thomsen; this man makes documentaries about Motorcycles & Mid-life-crisis, writes articles in all major scrapbook magazines... and also made a movie about...

SCRAPBOOKING!

Check his movie-site!

The contractor is about to start the place a window in the last wall... Which means... I am about to do some more building in the scrapbookroom of my wife (and she will be off all weekend... spending time with her scrapping friends & designteam)! I wanna leave you with this:
Wes also has a blog that you should see... You got a whole weekend to read it...
A dude that starts scrapping with the grannies of your wives HAHAHAHAHAHA or the entry about him being in Australia & New Sealand on a previous occassion (15 years ago)... He actually looks cool there and doing cool stuff... MAN STUFF!

I won't tell you too much! JUST READ IT! See Y'all back on Monday! Have a Blast!

Valentine Photoshop

As it is Valentine's Day I will not tell you anything nasty about my wife, her hobby, her spendings or her need to collect...
I just wanna state that I love her dearly, with all her flaws... as she loves me for just being me!

Happy Valentine's Day Daniƫlle

As for the posting of yesterday: here's my comment on my own creativity:

Magician as well!

Here's part 2 of the story of the deceased Harddrive...

I've been tinkering for the last three days to get the data back, and guess what?

I WORK IN IT & I AM A MAGICIAN!!!

Yeah Baby! WHO DA MAN???

As I like to be complimented just as much as anyone else (and especially scrapbookers), I wish to congratulate myself with this extraordinary achievement... You may join in! The more the merrier! This will probably get me knighted!

But to be seriously: I did manage to get back everything (that was considered lost), so if you want to receive a newsletter/nieuwsbrief and still did not send a requestmail... We will be sending it on short notice. It will be something to look forward to...

Backup...

You actually thought I had the weekend off to do fun stuff with the kids... WELL YES & NO!!!

YES: I did spent time doing fun stuff like going to a birthday party, swimming & playing Xbox-games!

And NO: It finally happened... She did not make a backup of her files for some time and the Harddrive died! I am working in IT so the logical thing would be me repairing whatever damage there is...

BUT I WORK IN IT; I AM NOT A MAGICIAN!!!

So I tried some stuff to retrieve files (especially mail & addresses) but the d**n thing is really broken; I took it with me to work to see if one of my co-fairies has a brilliant idea...

Let's hope so...

In the mean time a new Harddrive is installed, with all the mailboxes (yes mailboxES) set to leave a copy on the server instead of pulling all from the server!

For all you people who requested to be on her mailinglist (nieuwsbrief/newsletter), please send her a mail on: nieuwsbrief@memorylanescrapbooking.net

So this time the joke is on me!

Personality...

Another weekend, another cartoon!

And No... not another weekend working in my wife's scrapbookroom, as she is actually waiting for the contractor the place the window (Was he waiting for Vista?)... He came 'round last week to get the contract signed and my wife gave hime the message to have it done before the 17th... As I have a dead-line to finish the isolation of the room! Wanna see me in action? HERE!

This weekend will be spend by doing "family stuff"; swimming, games, glueing scale models...

Hope yours is as fun-filled as mine! See y'all back on Monday!

Why women shop in herds...

Do you have any idea why your wife doesn't go out shopping alone?
Wondering why she always have to bring her friend?
Or a whole pack?
Or her mom?

Stop wondering 'cause I found this here "editorial" piece to explain the phenomenon!

How to make money with scrapbooking

This is as real as it gets...
Although I do not really trust that site by the way it looks! They're probably the only ones making money of scrapbooking!!!!
Maybe this is an oppertunity to make money instead of spending it... Does anyone here have any experience with this company? ANYONE? I guess not, but hey... it was worth trying...
Perhaps NOW is the time to show your wife this blog and reveal the secret world of the under-appreciated, neglected, put-to-work Husband of scrapbooking wives everywhere!!!!

Compliments to make when in trouble

I know y'all recognize this one...

Whenever my wife makes a LO or minibook, she needs me to see it and tell her what I think of it... Y'all know that we cannot actually tell them we love it, otherwise they'd be buying and buying and buying, or we really don't like it... as they will not have sex with us for a LOOOOOOOOONG time!

So, here are some compliments you can use when you feel the heat

Just tell her:

  • "ART IS WHAT IT IS BECAUSE YOU MADE IT THAT WAY. THERE IS NO WRONG WAY TO DO IT"
  • "WHATEVER YOU CREATE IS A MASTERPIECE AND IS COMPLETLY PERFECT. DON'T FEEL OR LET ANYONE TELL YOU ANY DIFFERENT"
  • "YOU DO NOT HAVE TO HAVE YOUR WORK IN A GALLERY, OR SUPPORT YOURSELF FINANCIALLY TO TELL THE WORLD YOU ARE AN ARTIST"
  • "NOT EVERYONE WILL APPRECIATE YOUR WORK IN THE SAME WAY YOU DO, BUT THERE IS AT LEAST ONE PERSON OUT THERE WHO DOES. BUT THAT SHOULD NOT MATTER ANY WAY BECAUSE YOUR OPINION IS THE ONLY ONE THAT MATTERS!"
  • "YOU SHOULD PLAY, AND OFTEN. USE THOSE SUPPLIES, THAT IS WHAT YOU BOUGHT THEM FOR, ISN'T IT?" (At least you trick her into using up some stuff!)

Conspiracy Theory

Do you ever get the impression that you wife is playing tricks on you when it comes down to Scrapping?

WELL, your wife probably isn't the only one... even the suppliers are trying to leave us out in the pitch black darkness...

Cosmo Cricket is a company that is run by wife and HUSBAND Comstock, so you would have expected more sympathy for our suffering, but no... check out their site to see how they help out our wives to hide their traces on Internet shopping...

Ps. Thanks to my wife.... HAHAHAHAHAHA

Weekend

Again, but this time I really need to work on the scrap-room...

A friend of mine is going to help me out and he has the idea to start (on a saturday) at 7:30 am! I'm not complaining, at least someone is helping me... (besides my dad!)

So I'm leaving you with this here comic!

Enjoy! Have a great weekend! See you back on Monday!

Women vs. Men

Scrapper's Paradise = Husband's Hell?

Do I really need to elaborate on this one?

Well... OK! But if you need more input, don't be lazy and read the older posts...

First there is the urge to collect: anything (and I do mean ANYTHING) is usable on a LO! wheter it's a button of a pair of pants that YOU no longer are allowed to wear (I keep asking myself why... It only had 1 tear just below my "bottom", which is totally hip again I noticed as I was made to shop for a new pair!), or the packagematerial on top of the Peanutbutter jar (you know that shining gold stuff... Never know when you will use it, so you keep like at least 2 year's stash!).

Second the selling stuff: If she needs to buy stuff wholesale, yes indeed it comes in amounts of x, but why why why would she also keep the package material??? Going do any LO's with that? Is it purely to PO (replace PO with a nasty word) me? And like she does not have enough packing material, she goes to the wholesale store to BUY packing materials!

And third the scraproom: NAG NAG NAG that it is still not done, and it already is like this for a year (I don't see her taking up a hammer, screwdriver, drill or whatever... Or for that matter I don't even want her to! Can you imagion the damage?), but did she call the contractor about that "daylight"-window? I don't know how much you would pay for daylight, but I think we will have the most expensive lit room in the neighbourhood! DOES MONEY GROW ON TREES IN YOUR GARDEN, PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHERE YOU BOUGHT IT!
